Devils Lake State Parks consist of two park and recreation areas in north
central North Dakota on Devils Lake, the state's largest natural body of water.
The park system includes:
* Grahams Island State Park, the largest and most developed of the three state
parks on the lake.
* Black Tiger Bay State Recreation Area, a boat access area with ramp and
parking.
* Shelvers Grove--Permanently closed in 2004 due to high water
The areas provide a wealth of recreational opportunities for fishing, boating
and nature watching. Grahams Island has the area's most popular camping spots.
The parks themselves were developed as part of the recreation component of the
Garrison Diversion Project.
Location: Grahams Island is located ten miles west of the town of Devils Lake on
Highway 19, then six miles south. Black Tiger Bay is located seven miles east of
Devils Lake, five miles south, then three miles west.

special events or family reunions. It includes a kitchenette with refrigerator,

Nature—Called "Enchanted Waters" by the Fremont Expedition of the 1830s, Devils
Lake is one of North Dakota's most scenic regions. The sprawling lake with its
hidden bays provide anglers with walleye, northern pike, perch and white bass.
The surrounding hills, heavily wooded with oak, ash, elm and aspen, are
populated with deer, wild turkey and small game. A plant checklist for Grahams
Island State Park is available in pdf format.
Water-Based Recreation—Boat ramps are available at Grahams Island and Black
Tiger Bay. Black Tiger Bay is used exclusively as a boat access area and has a
parking area for boat trailers. Bait shops are located at Grahams Island State
Park and Black Tiger Bay.
Winter Activities—Devils Lake is known throughout the midwest for the number and
size of fish caught during the winter months. Its fine ice fishing features
jumbo, two-pound yellow perch. Winter access to the lake can be found at Grahams
Island and Black Tiger Bay. Contact the Devils Lake Area Chamber of Commerce for
information about the Perch Express, a special Amtrak package that brings ice
fisherman to the area during the winter months.
Snowmobilers enjoy the nearby Lake Region Trail, a groomed and marked state
