Rockhound State Park

Rugged slopes of the Florida and Little Florida Mountains are home to Rockhound State Park. Hiking trails offer views of nearby "sky islands."  Agates and quartz crystals can be found at the park.

Lots o' Rocks
Scattered about the park are mineral and specimens of volcanic origin - silica minerals including quartz, chalcedony, agate, and common opal. 

Rockhound vs. Spring Canyon
The Park has two units.  The Rockhound unit has the campground and visitor center.  The Spring Canyon unit has picnic sites and is for day use.

Take a Hike
Hiking trails provide visitors access to wildflower explosions in spring, mellow autumn weather, and scenic views year-round. 

Desert Alive
Every April, Rockhound State Park celebrates springtime in the desert with a full day of special programming.  Learn all about the plants, animals, and natural history of the Chihuahuan Desert. 

Getting There
To get to Rockhound State Park from Deming, take NM 11 south for 5 miles, and then go east on NM 141 for about 9 miles.
