A beautiful place to view fall foliage, Clarksburg State Park offers 368 acres
of abundant and unspoiled northern hardwood forest with breathtaking views of
the Hoosac Range, Mount Greylock and the Green Mountains.
Scenic Mauserts Pond has a landscaped day-use area featuring swimming,
picnicking, fishing, and a pavilion area. The pond is surrounded by 9.5 miles of
foot trails along which visitors may observe a variety of wildlife, and perhaps
a moose. The 3 mile Pond Loop Trail is popular with birdwatchers, and the very
easy Shoreline Trail has beautiful water views. 45 well-spaced and wooded
campsites are located near the lake, featuring a modern comfort station with
showers.
Clarksburg State Forest, located 3 miles west of Clarksburg State Park, is a
3,011-acre tract. This undisturbed forest land is popular with hunters and
hikers. 4.5 miles of Appalachian Trail passes through the forest into Vermont
and the Green Mountain National Forest. Wilderness camping is available at 3
designated sites along the AT. Please inquire about access and recreational
opportunities. |
