Experience the thrill of Rickwood's miracle mile of underground caverns! The
260 million-year-old limestone formations, blind cave fish and underground pool
are just a few of the natural wonders exhibited in the colorful cavern. The park
features an Olympic-sized swimming pool and snack bar, picnic area, large and
small picnic shelter, hiking trails, playground, campground and gift shop.
Rickwood Caverns is a recognized member of the National Caves Association,
and offers more than a mile of living geology. The caverns themselves were
water-formed during the Mississippian period over 260 million years ago.
Rickwood Caverns still contains active "living formations," as mineral-laden
water droplets build colorful structures and flowstones. At Rickwood Caverns,
the secrets of the earth actually unfold before your eyes!
Rickwood Cave reveals that it was carved from an ocean bed - shell fragments
and fossils of marine life are clearly visible along the cavern ceiling and
walls. Many curiosities are featured on guided tours of the "miracle mile" at
Rickwood Caverns State Park.
Don't forget your camera! The photographic opportunities are exceptional both
in the park and in the caverns. You won't want to miss the 2,000 year old
artifact displays.

Age 6 to Adult: $1.00 (Annual passes available)
Under Age 6: FREE with parent or guardian

Cave Seasonal Tour Schedule:
March through Memorial Day - Weekends Only
Memorial Day through August 9, 2006 - Everyday
August 12, 2006 through October - Weekends Only
November through February - CLOSED
Group Cave Tours: Special groups of 20 or more (school,
civic, commercial organizations, etc.) during seasonal tour schedule can be
arranged for by appointment. Call the Rickwood Caverns State Park office at
(205) 647-9692 year-round.
Cave Tour Admission Fee:
Age 12 to adult: $8.00
Age 6 to 11: $5.00
Under age 6: FREE with parent or guardian
Group discount: $2.00 off each person for groups of 25 or more.
Teachers: FREE with school group.
