Campgrounds in Yosemite
Details
There are thirteen campgrounds in Yosemite National Park. Camping reservations
for up to seven of these campgrounds are available five months in advance. Visit
our camping information page for more information about camping reservations and
when to make them.
NOTE: The process for making campground reservations may change beginning with
the 2007 season. We will post information as soon as we receive it.
Wawona, Hodgdon Meadow, and two campgrounds in Yosemite Valley are open all
year.

High Sierra Camps

Details
DNC Parks & Resorts at Yosemite operates five High Sierra Camps, which are
spaced 5.7 to 10 miles apart along a loop trail in Yosemite's beautiful high
country. All lodging is in canvas tent cabins that have dormitory-style steel
frame beds with mattresses, pillows, woolen blankets and comforters. Hot
showers, soap and restroom facilities are available. However, guests must
provide their own sheets or sleep-sacks and towels. Sleep-sacks and Trek Towels
can be purchased through Yosemite Concession Services Corporation mail order for
confirmed High Camp guests. Due to high demand, High Sierra camps are reserved
on a lottery basis. Applications are available October 15 to November 30
annually.
Upper Pines
Located in the east end of Yosemite Valley near Curry Village at 4,000 ft (1,200
m). Upper Pines Campground contains 238 campsites with tent and RV space.
Open: All year.
Reservations: Required and available online.
Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
Lower Pines
Located in the east end of Yosemite Valley near Curry Village at 4,000 ft (1,200
m). Lower Pines Campground contains 60 campsites with tent and RV space.
In addition, there are two small group campsites (sites 10 and 11) that can
accommodate seven to 12 people each, and one double campsite (sites 6 and 8),
that can accommodate up to 12 people. The cost for each group campsite or for
the double campsite is $30.
Open: March through October (approximately).
Reservations: Required and available online.
Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
North Pines
Located in the east end of Yosemite Valley near Curry Village at 4,000 ft (1,200
m). North Pines Campground contains 81 campsites with tent and RV space.
Open: April through September (approximately).

Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
Camp 4 (walk in)
Located in the east end of Yosemite Valley near Yosemite Lodge at 4,000 ft
(1,200 m). Camp 4 contains 35 campsites with tent space (no RVs permitted).
Parking is available at the campground, but not at individual sites. Three food
storage lockers are available in each campsite. Pets are not permitted.
Open: All year.
Reservations: No. All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost: $5/night per person (up to five other people may be assigned to your
campsite for a total of six per site).
Wawona Campground
Located one mile north of Wawona on the Wawona Road (CA-41), about one hour
south of Yosemite Valley, at 4,000 ft (1,200 m). Wawona Campground contains 93
campsites with tent and RV space.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: nearby (on Forest Drive east of the Wawona Store).
Groceries (limited): nearby (in Wawona).
Pets: permitted (except in the group sites).
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: All year.
Reservations: Required and available online from approximately May through
September. The campground is open October through April, with sites available on
a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site) from approximately
May through September and $14/night from October through April.
Group Camp
Same as above, except pets are not permitted. Each group site contains six food
lockers.
Reservations: Required and available online all year.
Cost: $40/night for each campsite (13-30 people per site).
Horse Camp
Same as above. The horse camp is located on Chilnualna Falls Road near the
campground reservation office. The horse camp contains one campsite.
Reservations: Required (call 800/436-7275). Horse Camp is open approximately
late April to late September.
Cost: $25/night for each campsite (6 horses per site).
Bridalveil Creek Campground
Located on the Glacier Point Road, off of the Wawona Road (CA-41), about 45
minutes south of Yosemite Valley, at 7,200 ft (2,200 m). Bridalveil Creek
Campground contains 110 campsites with tent and RV space.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: Wawona (on Forest Drive east of the Wawona Store) and Yosemite
Valley (in Upper Pines Campground).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries available in Wawona).
Pets: Permitted (except in the group sites).
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: July through early September (approximately).

Same as above. The campground contains three stock sites.

Cost: $25/night for each campsite (6 horses per site).
Hodgdon Meadow Campground
Located on the Big Oak Flat Road (CA-120), about 45 minutes north of Yosemite
Valley, at 4,900 ft (1,500 m). Hodgdon Meadow Campground contains 105 campsites
with tent and RV space.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines Campground).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available at Crane Flat).
Pets: Permitted (except in the group sites).
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).

mid-October. The campground is open mid-October through mid-April, with sites
available on a first-come, first-served basis.

mid-April through mid-October and $14/night from mid-October through mid-April.
Group Camp
Same as above, except pets are not permitted. The campground contains four goup
campsites. Each campsite contains four food lockers.
Reservations: Required and available online April through October (closed mid
October through mid April).
Cost: $40/night for each campsite (13-30 people per site).
Crane Flat Campground
Located on the Big Oak Flat Road (CA-120) at Crane Flat, about 30 minutes north
of Yosemite Valley, at 6,200 ft (1,900 m). Crane Flat Campground contains 166
campsites with tent and RV space.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines Campground).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available nearby at Crane
Flat).
Pets: Permitted.
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: June through September (approximately).
Reservations: Required and available online from June through September.
Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
Tamarack Flat Campground
Located on the Tioga Road (CA-120) east of Crane Flat, about 45 minutes north of
Yosemite Valley, at 6,300 ft (1,900 m). Tamarack Flat Campground contains 52
campsites with tent and RV space (three-mile access road not suitable for
trailers or large RVs).
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a vault toilet. No potable water is
available: stream water must be treated (by boiling, using a filter, or using
iodine).
Dump station (nearest): Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines Campground).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available 15 minutes away at
Crane Flat).
Pets: Not permitted.
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: June through early September (approximately).
Reservations: No. All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost: $10/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
White Wolf Campground
Located on the Tioga Road (CA-120), about one hour north of Yosemite Valley, at
8,000 ft (2,400 m). White Wolf Campground contains 74 campsites with tent and RV
space (for RVs less than 27 ft).
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: Tuolumne Meadows Campground or in Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines
Campground).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available at Crane Flat).
Pets: Permitted.
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: July through early September.
Reservations: No. All sites are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Cost: $14/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
Yosemite Creek Campground
Located on the Tioga Road (CA-120), about one hour (35 mi / 22 km) north of
Yosemite Valley, at 7,700 ft (2,300 m). Yosemite Creek Campground contains 75
campsites with tent and RV space (five-mile access road not suitable for RVs
over 24 ft or trailers).
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a vault toilet. No potable water is
available: stream water must be treated (by boiling, using a filter, or using
iodine).
Dump station: Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines Campground) or Tuolumne Meadows
Campground (about 30 minutes away).
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available about 30 minutes
away at Crane Flat or Tuolumne Meadows).
Pets: Permitted.
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).
Open: July through early September.

Porcupine Flat Campground
Located on the Tioga Road (CA-120), about one hour and fifteen minutes north of
Yosemite Valley, at 8,100 ft (2,500 m). Porcupine Flat Campground contains 52
campsites with tent and RV space (RVs in front section only).
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a vault toilet. No potable water is
available: stream water must be treated (by boiling, using a filter, or using
iodine).
Dump station: Yosemite Valley (in Upper Pines Campground) or Tuolumne Meadows
Campground.
Groceries: Yosemite Valley (limited groceries are available at Crane Flat or
Tuolumne Meadows).
Pets: Not permitted.
Showers & laundromat: Yosemite Valley (at Curry Village and Housekeeping Camp).

Tuolumne Meadows Campground
Located on the Tioga Road (CA-120) at Tuolumne Meadows, about 1.5 hours
northeast of Yosemite Valley, at 8,600 ft (2,600 m). Tuolumne Meadows Campground
contains 304 campsites with tent and RV space.
Each campsite contains a fire ring, picnic table, and food storage locker
[33"(D)x45"(W)x18"(H)], and is near a bathroom with potable water and flushing
toilets.
Dump station: Nearby, just west of the campground.
Groceries (limited): Nearby, at the Tuolumne Meadows Store.
Pets: Permitted.
Showers: Nearby, at the Tuolumne Meadows Lodge during very limited hours.
Open: July through September.
Reservations: Required for half of all campsites and available online from July
through September. Half of the campsites are available on a first-come,
first-served basis.
Cost: $20/night for each campsite (maximum 6 people per site).
Group Camp
Same as above, except pets are not permitted. The campground contains seven
group campsites. Each site has five food lockers.
Reservations: Required and available online July through September.
Cost: $40/night for each campsite (13-30 people per site).
Horse Camp
Same as above. The campground contains four stock campsites.

Getting There
Plane
Several airlines serve Fresno Yosemite International (off of Hwy 41), the Merced
Air Terminal (off of Hwy 140), and the Modesto Airport (off of Hwy 120). more �
Car
There are five entrances to the park:
-South entrance on Highway 41 north from Fresno
-Arch Rock entrance on Highway 140 west from Merced
-Big Oak Flat entrance on Highway 120 west from Modesto and Manteca
-Hetch Hetchy Entrance (to Hetch Hetchy Valley)
-Tioga Pass entrance on Highway 120 from Lee Vining and Highway 395. The Tioga
Pass entrance is closed from the first major snowstorm in November until late
May to early June due to snow. All other park entrances are kept open all year,
but may require tire chains because of snow any time between November and April.
**Visitors may drive into and around Yosemite Valley. Reservations are neither
required nor available to enter the park.**
Public Transportation
Visitors can ride YARTS buses from gateway communities outside the park into
Yosemite Valley. YARTS and VIA buses connect with Amtrak and Greyhound in
Merced.
Getting Around
Free shuttle buses are recommended in Yosemite Valley (year round),
Wawona/Mariposa Grove (spring-fall), and Tuolumne Meadows (summer).
In addition, bicycle rentals are available in Yosemite Valley spring through
fall. Over 12 miles of paved bike paths are available in Yosemite Valley. In
addition, bicyclists can ride on regular roads (if they obey traffic laws).
Helmets are required by law for children under 18 years of age.
Off-trail riding and mountain biking are not permitted in Yosemite National
Park.
