Camping Areas

Riley Creek Campground

Proximity to camper convenience store, laundry, and shower facilities.

Location: 1/4 mile west of Alaska Hwy. #3

Use: 150 sites for RVs & tents

   

Open: Year-round

   

Facilities:

flush toilet, water, limited facilities Sept.-May

   

Fee:

Drive Up Site: $19.00/night, Walk in Site: $12.00/night *

*Fees waived in the off-season  

Savage River Campground

Location: Mile 13

   

Use: 33 sites for RV's & tents

   

Open: May - Sept. weather dependent

   

Facilities: flush toilet, water

   

Fee:

$18.00/night


Savage Group Campground

Location: Mile 13

   

Use: 3 sites for large groups

   

Open: May - Sept. weather dependent

   

Facilities: flush toilet, water

   

Fee:

$40.00/night

Reservation Information

Any commercial group wishing to utilize the group sites must be in possession of a valid Incidental Business Permit (IBP) authorizing group camping.

Sanctuary River Campground

Location: Mile 23

   

Use: 7 sites, tents only (no vehicles), bus

   

Open: May - Sept. weather dependent

   

Facilities: chemical toilet, no water
   

Fee:

$9.00/night plus a one time reservation fee of $4.00

Reservation Information

Teklanika River Campground

*Closed to tents until further notice, hardside campers only.

**TEK passes will be issued only to those staying at Teklanika Campground. NO EXCEPTIONS will be made.

Location: Mile 29

   

Use: 53 sites for RV's & tents

   

Open: May - Sept. weather dependent

   

Facilities: flush toilet, water

   

Fee: $16.00/night with a 3-night minimum stay plus a one time reservation fee of $4.00

Igloo Creek Campground

**Igloo Creek Campgound is currently closed until further notice due to wildlife activity

                       

Wonder Lake Campground

Location: Mile 85
   

Use:  28 sites, tents only (no vehicles), bus
   

Open:  June - Sept. weather dependent
   

Facilities: flush toilet, water

   
Fee: $16.00/night plus a one time reservation fee of $4.00

Getting There

Plane

Air travel to either Anchorage or Fairbanks and then car/shuttle/train to Denali. Anchorage is 240 miles to the south and Fairbanks is 125 miles to the north of the park.

Car

Denali Park's headquarters is located along Alaska Route 3, the George Parks Highway, approximately 240 miles north of Anchorage, AK, 125 miles south of Fairbanks, AK, and 12 miles south of Healy, AK. Denali Park's mountaineering headquarters is located in Talkeetna, AK, approximately 100 miles north of Anchorage, AK.

Public Transportation

Denali is accessible by car or via the Alaska Railroad from either Anchorage or Fairbanks. In summer a variety of private bus and van services and the railroad operate daily from Anchorage and Fairbanks. If you are flying your own airplane to Denali visit our "Flight Site".

Getting Around

The Denali Park Road is accessible by private vehicle for 14.8 miles to the Savage River bridge. To travel to destinations farther into the park,shuttle and tour bus services are available. Bicycles are permitted along the Park Road.
