Campus Description:
Located in downtown White Plains, Mercy College's White Plains
Campus has been recently renovated and offers an array of both
undergraduate and graduate programs. To meet the needs of
individuals with work or family responsibilities, courses are
offered in a variety of semester formats and times, including
evenings and weekends and blended courses which utilize the
Internet.
The centerpiece of the Campus is the Center for Digital Arts
which has professional-level sound recording studios used by the
Music Industry and Technology undergraduate program; high-end
computer labs, and an art studio used by the Computer Arts and
Technology undergraduate program; and the recently dedicated
Mortimer Levitt Auditorium which is employed both for the
presentation of student work and public events.
Among the many other undergraduate majors offered at White
Plains are EDGE and Corporate Communications, accelerated
programs that allow students to complete their courses in one
year. Also offered are a Paralegal Certificate Program, a new
Legal Nurse Consultant Program, and Master's degrees in
Organizational Leadership, Education, and School Administration
and Supervision.
At Mercy, faculty members teach at all of the various
campuses, and if more convenient, students can also take general
education courses toward any of their majors at the White Plains
campus. Most importantly, classes are kept small, 10 to 20
students, which allows for more personalized instruction.
Accommodations include Internet-linked computer labs and
classrooms; a Learning Center; a library, and a cafeteria with
day, evening and Saturday fresh food service and vending
machines. The campus is easily accessible by car or public
transportation from all parts of the metropolitan area. A
municipal garage is immediately adjacent to the campus and bus
stops and the Metro-North railroad station are within easy
walking distance.
Sports:
Sports are based at the Mercy College Dobbs Ferry Campus.
Clubs and Activities:
Clubs for Academic Interests, Cultural Organizations, Student
Association.

Special Programs:
Mercy students confront a number of challenges in their efforts
to achieve academic success and attain a baccalaureate degree.
For many of our students, unforeseen cancellations in childcare
arrangements lead to uneven class attendance, which undermines
students' chances of success. In opening a new Bronx campus,
Mercy aims to address these problems by offering back-up
childcare for students who encounter occasional problems with
their regular childcare arrangements. The Bronx Campus Child
Care Center will be located in the Pavilion of the new campus.
This 1200 square foot facility will be directed by two certified
teachers, one of whom will be onsite at all times, and staffed
by Mercy students seeking careers in early childhood education.
Children aged 4 and older will be accepted. The Center will be
open from 9 am - 10 pm Monday through Saturday. We anticipate
serving about 20 children at any one time, and approximately 90
per day. Because this Center is envisioned as providing back-up
childcare only, we anticipate that over 2,000 different children
will be served each semester. The Center will not offer the
sequential curricular structure of a daycare center, as children
will not attend on a regular basis. Children will attend for
3-hour blocks to enable their parents to attend classes when
regular daycare arrangements fall through.
