Campus Description:
Iona College is a four-year co-ed, comprehensive college in
suburban New York City. With nearly 4,500 students, Iona is a
medium-sized college with small classes and more than 40 majors.
The most popular undergraduate majors are in business, mass
communications, psychology, computer science and education. Iona
is also a Catholic college where ethical decisions and service
to others are primary considerations. Recently, Iona has been
named a Top Northern University by U.S. News and World Report,
one of the top 237 schools to study business by The Princeton
Review, one of America's most interesting colleges by
Newsweek Magazine and one of Intel's Top 50 Unwired
Campuses.
The student body is talented and diverse, with students from
39 states and 49 countries. Thirty-three percent of the students
belong to minority groups and contribute to a college
environment that values different cultures. Iona students
participate in 21 NCAA Division I athletic teams and more than
90 different clubs and activities.
Iona has a beautiful, green 35-acre campus in New Rochelle,
New York, just 20 miles north of Midtown Manhattan. The campus
has new, state-of-the-art facilities, including a new athletic
recreation center and new student union. Students are encouraged
to take advantage of New York for social and educational
opportunities, including internships at some of the world's most
recognized institutions. For example, in the winter of 2006,
eleven Iona students interned with NBC at the Winter Olympics in
Turin, Italy.
Iona alums currently excel in almost every profession, and
include people in the following positions: Director of the New
York Stock Exchange, Director of NASDAQ, President of NBC,
Acting President of the American Red Cross, President of the
AFL-CIO, one of two Group Presidents of American Express and
many other leaders in most professional fields.

Special Programs:
Iona opened two new buildings in the 2005-06 school year. The
LaPenta Student Union, a beautiful, state-of-the-art center of
student life opened in August. The Hynes Athletic Center, with
new gyms, weight- and cardio-fitness facilities and crew
training tank opened in January.
