For freshmen: SAT and/or ACT; college preparatory program; 23
units of academic credit. For transfers: 2.0 average GPA.
Campus Description:
Located in Buffalo, NY, Canisius is an urban residential campus
of 36 acres, comprising 51 buildings, including student
residences, places to work and study, and state-of-the-art
library and athletic facilities. The College of Arts and
Sciences, the Richard J. Wheel School of Business, and the
School of Education and Human Services offer more than 47
academic majors and special programs.
Founded in the Jesuit tradition, Canisius has produced
leaders in government, law, medicine, education, communication,
science and industry. Accreditations include the Middle States
Association of Colleges and Universities, the American Chemical
Society, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health
Education Programs, the National Athletic Trainers Association,
the Council on Education of the Deaf, AACSB International (the
Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business), and
NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education).
Sports:
Varsity Sports, NCAA Division I: Women's: basketball,
cross-country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming/diving,
synchronized swimming, volleyball. Men's: baseball,
basketball, cross-country, golf, hockey, lacrosse, soccer,
swimming/diving.
Intramural Sports: Women's: 5-on-5 basketball, 3-on-3
basketball, indoor soccer. Men's:5-on-5 basketball,
3-on-3 basketball, flag football, indoor soccer. Coed:,
aerobics, badminton, 5-on-5 basketball, 3-on-3 basketball, dodge
ball, floor hockey, indoor soccer, kickball, outdoor soccer,
softball, racquetball, water basketball or polo, whiffed ball,
volleyball.
Club Sports: Women's:crew, cheerleading. Men's:rugby.
Clubs and Activities:
Over 90 clubs and organizations related to service, academics,
the media, religious and social interests.
