Campus Description:
Barnard is a small, select liberal arts college for women,
partnered with Columbia University and located in New York City.
The College's four-acre campus is located directly across the
street from the University in Morningside Heights, a
neighborhood famous for its many institutions of higher
learning.
Its faculty, more than half of whom are women, are prominent
scholars as well as dedicated and accessible teachers. As an
undergraduate affiliate of Columbia University, Barnard has a
cross-registration program enabling students to enjoy a vast
selection of courses and extracurricular activities, Division I
athletic competition and a fully coeducational social life.
Adding immeasurably to a Barnard education is its location in
New York City, where students have access to thousands of
internships and unparalleled cultural, intellectual and social
resources.
Sports:
Varsity Sports, NCAA Division I: Women's: archery,
basketball, crew, cross-country, fencing, field hockey, golf,
lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis,
indoor/outdoor track and field, volleyball.

Special Programs:
Barnard offers several special academic programs. The Centennial
Scholars Program, an intellectual apprenticeship offered to
highly qualified students, provides an opportunity for students
to conduct extensive research for up to three semesters with the
guidance of a faculty mentor. Barnard also has a joint degree
program with the Juilliard School, as well as programs in music
at Juilliard and The Manhattan School of Music. Also, double
degree programs with Columbia University in the areas of law,
engineering, international and public affairs, and dental and
oral surgery. There are also options for study abroad at Oxford
and Cambridge Universities, the University of London, the London
School of Economics and other institutions throughout the world.
