Campus Description:
Bard offers a writing-intensive interdisciplinary curriculum and
core academic program. The 1 to 9 faculty-student ratio supports
challenging opportunities: accelerated degree programs,
self-designed majors, small and rigorous classes, tutorials, and
a required senior project.
Located on 600 acres in the historic Hudson River Valley, the
campus offers tranquility for serious study; its proximity to
New York City (90 miles to the south) complements its academic
and cultural life. The approximately 1,500 undergraduates come
from 48 countries and all 50 states.
Sports:
Varsity Sports, NCAA Division III: Women's: basketball,
cross-country, soccer, tennis, volleyball. Men's:
basketball, cross-country, soccer, squash, tennis, volleyball.
Intramural Sports: Women's: badminton, basketball,
bowling, softball, table tennis, tennis, volleyball. Men's:
badminton, basketball, bowling, softball, squash, table tennis,
tennis, volleyball.
Club Sports: Men's and Women's: equestrian, fencing,
rugby, swimming, ultimate frisbee. Men's: rugby.
Clubs and Activities:
Over 70 student organizations and clubs. The five largest
include: International Student Organization, Model United
Nations, Social Action Workshop, Student Government, Student
Newspaper.

Special Programs:
Our science curriculum includes innovative,
nationally-recognized team-taught interdisciplinary courses. In
the spring of 2007, we will open a new $20 million science
building, designed by Rafael Vinoly Architects.
