Campus Description:
Albany Medical College, founded in 1839, is one of the nation’s
oldest private medical schools. It is a major component of the
Albany Medical Center, which also includes one of New York
State’s largest teaching hospitals, the Albany Medical Center
Hospital, and one of the Capital Region’s most active
fund-raising organizations, the Albany Medical Center
Foundation. The Center serves a population of nearly 3 million
people living in eastern New York and western New England.
Albany Medical College prides itself in offering an intimate,
collegial environment that fosters humane values and genuine
learning, while preparing the next generation of physicians,
biomedical scientists and professors. In addition to awarding
approximately 130 medical degrees each year, the College awards
approximately 40 Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science
degrees. Special admission programs are offered through Union
and Siena Colleges and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
