Ellis Island
Ellis Island was known as the "Gateway to America" for more than
12 million immigrants who passed through the facility between
1892 and 1954 in search for freedom of speech, freedom of
religion, and economic opportunity. Because of its unique
historical importance, Ellis Island was declared part of the
Statue of Liberty National Monument in 1965. After a six-year
renovation, it reopened to the public as a museum in 1990. For

Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park and Safari
Six Flags Great Adventure unleashes its biggest year ever. New

Meadowlands Sports Complex
There is something for everyone of all ages at the Meadowlands
Sports Complex, including football, basketball, hockey, soccer,
music, and horse racing. The complex includes Giants Stadium,
Continental Airlines Arena, and Meadowlands Racetrack. The
Meadowlands Sports Complex is also home of the Sports Hall of

Salem County Historical Society Museum and Library
Housed in a complex of historic buildings, The Salem County
Historical Society maintains a fine regional museum and research
library. The buildings date from the 18th-20th centuries and
include the John Jones Law Office (c1735), believed to be the
oldest law office building in the United States. Located in the
heart of Salem's Market Street National Register Historic
District, the Society museum presents long-term and changing
exhibitions featuring its extensive collections of regional
fine, folk and decorative arts and furnishings. Group tour and
student programs are available and welcomed. The research
library features an extensive collection of archival and printed
