Living in New Jersey
|
|
New Jersey is noted for discount and outlet store shopping,
familiarizely at Flemington's Liberty Village Factory Outlets,
the Secaucus Outlet Center and Princeton's Forrestal Village.
Also, a newish outlet-shopping region has sprung up around Six
Flags Great Adventure Theme Park in Jackson Township. In
Edgewater visit Yaohan Plaza, an Asian shopping center with
Japanese, Korean and Chinese products and hard-to-find foods.
The best antiquing territory is in and around Lambertville, on
the Delaware River, though the inland villages of Cranbury,
Chester and Mullica Hill are worth looks. For Victorian-era
gifts and furnishings, Cape May is the place to head.
Englishtown is the place to go for flea markets and auctions --
if that's your bag, go early, plan on spending half a day and
wear shoes that you don't mind getting dirty or muddy Waterloo
Village, in Stanhope, is an authentic, restored village dating
to the 1700s that's filled with colonial-style shops selling
everything from brooms, textiles and pottery to wrought-iron
pieces and candles, all created by local craftspeople. Historic
Wheaton Village, in Millville, is a re-created glassworks from
the 1800s where glassware of all kinds is for sale.
