Mississippi offers a wide variety of shopping possibilities.
Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast, you can find anything and
everything to do with the beach: swimwear, sand dollars,
starfish, beach towels and live hermit crabs. Though they're
certainly available, you may want to avoid buying coral,
seashells or fetal sharks: Creating a market for these items
contributes to the destruction of their already fragile
ecosystem. Local crafts include such items as wood carvings
wooden chairs and rockers, corn-husk dolls, quilts, pottery,
Choctaw basket weavings made of native swamp cane and some
beautiful pine-needle baskets and trays.
