Licensing Rules in Mississippi

A Certificate of Authority is required for public jobs over $50,000 and for private projects over $100,000 that are less than 7,500 square feet and one to two stories in height. In order to qualify, a financial statement by a CPA must be submitted; the applicant’s assets must include a net worth of $20,000 dollars. Out-of-state contractors must qualify with the Secretary of State and pass a construction exam. To apply for the Certificate, contact http://www.sos.state.ms.us/.

There is a $100 application fee, $50 additional classification fee, and $50 examination fee.
