Amherst College
Since its founding in 1821, Amherst College
has grown into what many regard as the premier liberal arts
college in the nation, enrolling some 1,600 talented, energetic
and diverse men and women from the U.S. and more than 40 other
countries. Our goal is to provide these students with an
outstanding education in an intimate and personal setting.
Students here work closely with an acclaimed faculty.
Amherst students take part in a community
where minds are honed, ideas are freely exchanged, and life-long
friendships are formed. They participate in sophisticated
research, making use of state-of-the-art equipment and
facilities. They are recognized, challenged and supported as
individuals traveling their own distinct intellectual paths.
Amherst offers the B.A. degree in 33 fields of study.
