Lindsey Wilson College
|
The mission of Lindsey Wilson College is to serve the unmet
educational needs of students by providing a living-learning
environment within an atmosphere of active caring and Christian
concern where every student, every day, learns and grows and
feels like a real human being.
Founded in 1903, Lindsey Wilson is located on more than 78
partially wooded acres on a hilltop in Columbia. The college is
affiliated with the Kentucky Annual Conference of The United
Methodist Church.
While historically Lindsey Wilson’s focus has been to serve the
citizens of Southcentral Kentucky, the college’s 2005-06
enrollment is a record 1,902 students who represent 98 Kentucky
counties, 26 U.S. states and territories, and 34 foreign
countries.
Lindsey Wilson has either opened or completed major renovations
to 22 buildings in the last 20 years -- the result of one of the
most aggressive and ambitious building programs in Kentucky
higher education. A 42,000-square-foot science center will be
opened for the 2006-07 school year. In the last seven years, the
number of full-time faculty has been expanded by 60 percent.
Lindsey Wilson offers 19 majors in the bachelor of arts degree
and a nationally accredited master’s degree program in
counseling and human development.
