Larned, KS

Larned is located at 106km northwest of Wichita. Just west of Larned, off Highway 156, is the Fort Larned National Historic Site, which preserves another fort that was built to protect travelers on the Santa Fe Trail. A large number of original buildings have been restored, and there's a museum in one of the barracks. Wheel ruts created by wagons on the Sante Fe Trail can be viewed near the fort. The city was named for Fort Larned, a base for troops guarding the Santa Fe Trail against attacks by Native Americans. The fort is now a tourist attraction
