Community Colleges Iowa has
a nationally recognized system of two-year public colleges which
can help you prepare for employment in a wide range of careers.
Each of Iowa's 15 comprehensive community colleges serves a
multi-county area. If you live in Iowa and are older than high
school age, you are ensured enrollment at your area college.
Technical and vocational programs prepare students for careers
in a wide range of fields, including automotive, agriculture,
drafting and design, electronics, business, and many others. The
colleges work closely with employers to ensure that the
education is current and practical. Many of these programs offer
"career-option-transfer" or "co-op plans" which provide
classroom instruction along with paid employment experience.
If you are seeking a four-year degree, you can earn an associate
degree in arts and sciences. This degree will provide you with
two years of credit which may be transferred to other colleges
and universities. In addition, area colleges offer remedial
assistance and services for disabled and disadvantaged students.
NOTE: the data below show costs for tuition and fees, plus
estimated housing costs, for each Iowa community college. These
figures were supplied by the colleges in the spring of 2003, and
reflect costs anticipated for the 2003-04 academic year.
New financial figures for the anticipated costs of the
2004-05 academic year will be posted early in the summer of
2004.
