alternative to some of the state's crowded beaches. Only 6km
wide by 10km long, it's one of the destinations that you don't
want to tell too many people about. In our experience,
high-season rates on Marco Island are somewhat higher than rates
in more heavily developed resort areas. Many birds frequent the
so-called Ten Thousand Islands that lie near Marco -- several
bald-eagle nests have been identified in the area. If visitors
get out on the water, there's a good chance to see dolphins
frolicking.
