Fairbanks Alaska
|
Fairbanks is located at 425 km northeast of Anchorage.
Alaska's second-largest city, Fairbanks is one of the
only major towns in the state that's located inland from
the coast. Annual events include the Yukon Quest
International Sled Dog Race, the World Ice Art
Championships Summer Solstice celebrations Golden Days
the Tanana Valley Fair and the World Eskimo-Indian
Olympics.
Alaska Airlines, Delta and United all offer daily
services from Anchorage to Fairbanks Airport , four
miles southwest of downtown; the MACS bus Yellow Line
runs downtown but the long wait between services means
you'll probably want to grab a taxi to your
accommodation. Denali National Park and Preserve, the
site of Mount McKinley, and several hot springs resorts
are in the area. The annual World Eskimo-Indian Olympics
are held in Fairbanks in July.
