Rules in Alaska
Alaska doesn't require an exam for the nonresidential type of
license. Application costs are $50 and are nonrefundable, and
the license itself costs $200, which expires on December 31 of
even years.
Alaska law requires that contractors be registered with the
Department of Community and Economic Development.
To apply for a general contractor license (which doesn't allow
you to undertake construction or alteration or submit a bid of a
privately owned residential structure), contact http://www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/.
For obtaining a residential general contractor's license that
allows contractors to work on residential construction,
applicants must first successfully complete the Alaska Craftsman
Home Program (ACHP). Information on this program may be found at
http://www.alaska.net/~achp/
HVAC contractors must have a license to act as a mechanical
administrator in Alaska, and can submit applications for
examination at http://www.experioronline.com/. Licensing
applications may be found at http://www.dced.state.ak.us/occ/.
